FIVE ON FRIDAY from the lil’ FARM

Linking up today with FIVE on FRIDAY to share a few random pics of my lil’ ole’ farm life.
Here’s to the farm life ya’ll.
I welcome 6 new baby Bantam (we call Baneys) chicks on May 30, 2016!  

I watched ole’ Large (I named 3 of them Small, Medium and Large) play “kick the can” with a plastic bucket for about 15 minutes or so before tiring of it.

I was elated when a roll of hay that got away from me ended up FINALLY stopping on a section of barbed wire fencing.  Otherwise it would’ve went all the way down in the creek. Shew~

I watched as a single deer checked on the progress of the grapevines as I done the morning dishes.

And most off all, throughout the week, I stayed happy despite having to put up with a lot of…..

FIVE COUNTRY FOODS for FRIDAY

Today is Friday so I want to share five country foods I can’t live without!
Well, I’m sure I could live without, but life wouldn’t be so gooood..
My Home Made Chocolate Pie in a cast iron skillet.
Warm bowl of turkey chili and saltines on a cold, dreary night.
Baked cornbread in a cast iron skillet with a buttery browned top.

Fried cornbread with a bit of butter to give it a golden, yummy finish.

And Beef! lol. Just had to throw this pic in of my uncle looking at his newest member on the mini farm.
I did use to love beef when I was little, but my 20’s I discovered I’m allergic to it. But boy, how I do remember that taste! Turkey just isn’t the same.

FIVE COUNTRY FOODS for FRIDAY #2

Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love country foods.
When me and my Aunt Marlene aren’t out searching for little country diners, we are always frying up something.

Here at five more country foods I just can’t live without:
 (Here’s last weeks Five if you missed them!)

1. CORNBREAD & MILK
“A Kentucky Snack”

Fry you up a few pones of cornbread and mix it up with milk.
Just throw in some diced onions and a few dashes of pepper and ummmm good!

2. BATTER BREAD

Made from only self rising flour and water, then fried up.
 I usually eat this with a runny egg or brown beans.
Omygosh, if you haven’t had this, make some today!

3. DEEP FRIED JALAPENO RINGS

This is a treat each summer from fresh garden jalapenos!
They are great alone or dipped in ranch.

4. BANANA NUT BREAD

I always add a bit of extra walnut flavoring oil and walnuts to the mix.
And I only use speckled, black, ripe bananas!
Umm, makes my mouth water right now!

5. BAKED MACARONI & CHEESE

Okay, so here I cheat a little. I first boil it normally, but then finish it off in the oven with a baked on layer of mixed cheeses!
Umm Ummm good!

Five Random Flower Shots for Friday

Here is my random, Five on Friday to share.
 (Sorry not a craft post, but I am loving this Five on Friday thing!)

I choose to share some photos of the new life bursting around my yard.
Flowers bring me so much peace… maybe because my late Mom loved them so much also. So it’s kinda like I’m still in the flowers with her sometimes.

I am still super bad with flower names, but I do know one thing, I love them all!

Sticks of a yellow Forsythia bush close to my house. It’s sadly going to have to be moved as it is seeding and growing and trying to takeover others.

These are a welcome sign that spring is really here! Love these. Can’t remember the names though.

I know people hate these little dandelions in their yard, but I love seeing them pop up!

Blooms from my miniature cherry tree are so beautiful close up.

Not sure the name of this little purple guy, but I love seeing them pop up all over the yard in Spring.
